The Rocket - signed by Ronnie O'Sullivan
Arguably the most gifted player ever to hold a cue, current World Champion, Ronnie O'Sullivan, has been thrilling crowds since he turned professional at just 16 years of age. He is the ultimate crowd-pleaser, playing exquisite shots with either hand at lightning pace. At the 1997 World Championships he achieved a maximum 147 break in just 5 minutes and 20 seconds - an almost incredible feat.
In 2001 he ended his long hoodoo by winning the World Championship, and repeated the achievement in 2004. He is one of only 5 players to win the UK and World titles in the same year.
Like Alex Higgins and Jimmy White, Ronnie is often thought of as a loveable rogue and he is sure to inherit Jimmy's 'People's Champion' mantle. Like Alex, he's had his share of disciplinary problems but tickets for a Ronnie O'Sullivan match are always the first to sell out. As his friend and mentor, Ray Reardon, said, "I've never seen anybody who could play the game better than this boy."
