His dynamic performances saw him named the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year and he was also runner-up in both the FIFA World Player of the Year and European Player of the Year polls.
Lampard was again to the fore in 2005-06 as Chelsea successfully defended their Premiership title and he was also part of the Blues side that beat Manchester United 1-0 in extra-time at Wembley to lift the FA Cup.
