Chelsea Legend - Signed by Peter Osgood
Peter Osgood will always be known as 'The King of Stamford Bridge for his goalscoring exploits for Chelsea in the 1960s and 1970s. In 380 appearances for The Blues he scored 150 times including goals in the 1970 FA Cup Final, the 1971 European Cup Winners Cup Final and the 1972 League Cup Final. Peter scored in every round of the competiton during Chelsea's successful FA Cup campaign in 1970.
Ossie was known as a charming and confident man, and on the pitch he had the slight touch of arrogance found in great football players. He was two footed, good in the air and while strong he was also adept in tight situations. Osgood also had an astute footballing brain which allowed him to be both an excellent target man and a player who could be employed in midfield to advantage. Osgood was a genuine entertainer and a definite character from the start. Few things summarise his status as well as a T-shirt worn by Raquel Welch, one of the greatest movie stars of the era. The T-shirt simply said "I scored with Osgood".
