Known as a wonderful finisher and fantastic footballer, Ian Wright seemed to have it all. He studied videos of Pele, observing the great man's mastery of movement and adapting it to his own game. Accordingly, Wrighty could seemingly make space for himself in any situation.

Incredibly, Wright didn't turn to professional football until he was 21, having spent his formative years playing for local amateur teams. Although he carved out quite a name for himself with Crystal Palace in the late eighties and early nineties, it is with Arsenal that Ian Wright will always be most closely associated.

Ian Wright always fought for the full 90 minutes with total enthusiasm and complete commitment. He was always the fans' favourite and seemed to carry the terrace's hopes on his back. This dogged determination saw Ian Wright finish his Arsenal career with an amazing 185 goals in all competitions, ultimately better than a goal every other game.
