Pinetree - signed by Colin Meads
Surely no player better embodied the spirit of the All Blacks than Colin Meads. A powerful lock forward, he captained New Zealand several times and played in a record 133 games, including 55 Tests.
Meads is an inaugural member of the International Rugby Hall of Fame and is widely acknowledged as the greatest lock forward ever to play the game. At 6ft 4in tall and weighing 16 stone, he was an imposing figure who was rumoured to train by running up hills with a sheep under each arm!
However, his strength wasn't his only asset. His determination and courage were second to none. On a tour of South Africa he broke his arm in a ruck but managed to complete the game. As the doctor confirmed his injury at full time, Meads had greater concerns, "At least we won the bloody game!"
