Ryder Cup 1995 - signed by Bernhard Langer
Never the longest of hitters, Langer has always demonstrated excellent technique, especially around the greens with his bunker play. Our print features a beautiful action shot of Bernhard in his element, with sand exploding into view as the ball splashes on to the green. Langer is a picture of total concentration. He played a pivotal role in the 1995 Ryder Cup team, securing victories in the foursomes on the first and second day of play and helping a resurgant Europe to only their second victory on US soil.
Langer is renowned for meticulous preparation both before a round and with each individual shot. Throughout his career, the German has been a byword for willpower and nerve. Both have characterised his play over four decades, during which time he has won 66 tournaments worldwide, including two US Masters, the most recent of which was secured two years before this photograph, at Augusta in 1993.
His achievements in the game are so highly regarded by both his peers and officials in the game, that he has now been named an Honourary Member of the European Tour. In 2004, he successfully captained the European Ryder Cup side for the first time, leading his team to their most resounding victory ever over the USA.
