1966 World Cup Celebration - Signed by Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters
Over 40 years have passed but the 30th July 1966 still remains the most memorable moment in the history of English football. On a bright sunny day at Wembley Stadium England defeated West Germany to lift the World Cup for the first time. Goals from Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters looked to have won the trophy for England until a last minute equaliser from Wolfgang Weber forced extra time. This should have given West Germany the momentum to win the game but with Alan Ball inspirational and a helpful Russian linesman, Geoff Hurst scored two further goals to lead England to a 4-2 triumph.
